Brazil launches Raízes Comex program to increase the participation of black workers in foreign trade.
In line with Black November, a month dedicated to reflecting on the anti-racist struggle, on November 7, the Brazilian government launched an unprecedented program to increase the participation of black workers in foreign trade. The Raízes Comex initiative seeks to promote greater equity and diversity in a sector historically marked by racial inequality, creating real opportunities for black professionals in the global market.
This movement is a reflection of the advancement of the anti-racist agenda in Brazil and around the world, reinforcing the commitment to affirmative action that goes beyond words. Countries like the United States and South Africa are already leading similar initiatives, recognizing the importance of a more inclusive economy for sustainable development.
However, the program invites us to reflect: what is the role of companies and society in general in consolidating these policies? Diversity and equity cannot just be banners; they need to be daily practices to correct historical injustices and increase representation at all levels of decision-making.
Reducing Inequalities, a reference to SDG 10, guides this action by highlighting the need to eliminate social and economic barriers. May this initiative inspire other sectors to also rethink their practices and move forward in building a truly inclusive society.
